  1. California has a new APP law. Sounds like something for your iPhone(app...get it). If you purchased a legal gun and later you became a convicted felon, then you're no longer legally allowed to own a gun and the authorities can compel you to turn in your gun. California registers all the legal firearms so they check the list and go after you. That doesn't sound so bad, but extend it to cars. Let's say your drivers license is suspended. Turn your car into the State. Tear off the 'Do Not Remove Under Penalty of Law' tag on your mattress and California wants your bed. Listen to downloaded music and California will go after your mp3 player. Tough state California.

  2. Well, as you know, the Treasury Dept. plays games with accounting to buy time. They "borrow" funds from things like department/agency pension funds, and then "replace" the money after the debt ceiling has been upped again. The fact that we've been just a tiny bit under $17 trillion for all this time just goes to show that the monkeys at the Treasury are performing some amazing feats of accounting gimickry.

  3. This is a good template for the budget minded. With respect to those sites that sell prepackaged survival rations in boxes and buckets, the individual can comb the retail stores for coupon bargains and lead in products that are lower priced. Fill the cart with food and tuck it away. Beans, rice, oils and good proteins can be found in abundance. Use dessicants and O2 absorbers for long term storage. Buying at low prices and storing foods you like means you can rotate these items into your daily diet, keeping things fresh and working off the FIFO system of eating the lowest priced longest term storage items, thus front running inflation to a certain degree. Try going Vegan for a day to further cut food costs and making for a better diet.

  4. Thanks Eric! Great article, for a budget prep! ALL of those interested in preparedness could use this as a starting point. Add in special dietary needs and seasonings for individual tastes, and favorites as the essentials are now covered! Thanks for pointing us towards this source...

  5. Government zombies are entranced with the notion that 'Crisis offers opportunity'. Consequently, they're perpetually formulating real and imaginary conflicts to use for incrementally accumulating greater lucre to themselves and their sycophants and 'authority' over their fellow Peoples. "When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it." –Frederic Bastiat
